This chapter is where I really start to see Cyrelian’s character develop – I see his strength, and details of his past unravel. His ability to endure. His willingness to overcome whatever is thrown at him. I especially loved the following part:

“Even then I was never the weak and useless creature they thought me.

Even in these moments of reflection I told myself that I was strong enough for this; that I chose to remain chained to my useless duties. I chose to return to the embassy most nights. I chose to endure this.”

On a lighter note, I also enjoyed this line:

“Thurindir would be around Castle Dour, and then we would have a lesson of sorts.

Appropriate behavior on my part just caused him to spit on the ground. Bad behavior caused him to grudge a little respect.”

Thurundir and Uluwie are my favourite tertiary characters so far. Uluwie is the real MVP – looking out for Cyrelian when she can, taking care of him from a distance.

You do wrap-ups fantastically, too – I loved how you ended this chapter. It felt like Cyrelian’s first taste of independence – something claimed as his and his alone, even if he had help getting there.

Uluwie’s a champ. Sadly, she is just a bit player, and we won’t see her again, though she’ll get mentioned. I have no idea who I grabbed to make her. Maybe just a faceless randomly-generated Thalmor.

Thurindir is a mod, and he’s just as much of a dick when he’s your follower as I’ve made him out to be. Also he was glitched in my game, didn’t dismiss properly, so that character had a bitchy Thalmor following him around forever. He may be back, who knows. I don’t see Elenwen getting along with him, but maybe the Ambassador. I’m sure they have a tolerate/hate relationship.
